about

“A Product of 30 Years of Violence” is the new release by Christian Donaghey, AKA Autumns. In the build-up to Autumns debut album, an EP of six songs delivering a diverse range of sonic explorations, concepts and limitations is to be released on Clan Destine Records to document the music made during the months of Summer and Autumn of 2016. The EP will suitably come out digitally and on a limited run of cassettes, due out in November 2016.

“A Product of 30 Years of Violence” perfectly captures an artist in constant flux. However, now showing a greater dependence on electronic machines to exhibit a new sonic palate. Throughout the EP Donaghey uses the language of machines through drum machines and sinister sequencers, nowave guitars and crooning vocals to produce these new paranoid songs.

“The Age of Desire” immediately introduces the new sounds and feelings delivered on this EP; capturing both elements of noise guitar and electronics to inform the victim on what to expect.

The use of sequencers first make their appearance on “Find Solace”, creating a dark atmosphere similar to DAF, whilst keeping the Glenn Branca style guitars present along with Donaghey’s signature vocal style; effortlessly capturing the post-modern Autumns style.

“Wold Hates” takes a strong gothic drum machine rhythm with post-punk guitars to deliver a track similar to the atmosphere on The Cure’s classic Pornography album.

The leading track from the EP “Posthumous Remorse” initiates the fully formed electronic aspect of Autumns. Allowing the drum machine and bass sequencer to take the lead, along with layers of distorted echoes of vocals and modulated hits of metal. Appropriately letting Autumns terrorise any dancefloor that he is let loose on.

“Loss & Preservation” provides an instrumental sonic journey reminiscent to Coil’s early years, allowing the listener to refresh and brace themselves for the dystopian anthem that ends the cassette.

“Crime of Passion” is the ultimate comedown track, saturated with guilt, pleasure and disdain, through the use of minimal synths, vocals and drum machine. A closer without a doubt leaving an impression and showcasing what is yet to come in the future for Autumns
